My sincere condolences to the Dean Family. Ed was like a grandfather to me growing up. Him and Pat lived next door and I feel lucky to have spent some time with them. I now have my own child and understand the importance of a village. Ed was part of my village. May his soul and body rest eternally in peace.

Pat and Ed were more than just great neighbors, they were an important part to my life growing up. All of the stories my mom mentioned below bring a smile to my face! I didn't realize it at the time, but the benefit of having neighbors like Pat and Ed cannot be understated. Having a trusted group of people who are really part of your family allows for children to grow up in a safe and loving environment. Both of them were truly like a third set of grandparents.
Rest in Peace Ed!
Logan

I can not tell you how much I loved Ed and Pat Dean! Ed and Pat were my neighbors in Bear Valley, when I moved to BV Ed and Pat opened their hearts to my family. Ed and Pat were my surrogate parents and my children's surrogate grandparents.
So many memories of us living next door to each other. I am pretty sure my son joined the military because Ed was a mentor to him. I can not tell you how many times Ed and Pat came to my rescue, like the time Logan locked the babysitter in the garage and Lindsay was asleep in her crib. It was Ed who came over and helped her get into a window so that she could continue babysitting. Or the time I had a prairie dog in my back yard and had no idea how to get it out! Ed and Pat to the rescue with a broom a hose and us running it out! I remember their generosity when it came to my family, always allowing Logan and Lindsay to come play in the garage and all the Halloween costumes and dresses that Pat spend hours making for my children.
I have never had neighbors like Ed and Pat and the day they moved I cried! I did stay in touch as much as I could and I do remember the last time I saw them at the house in KC. Logan was home from Iraq and we went for visit and of course they were the most generous hosts.
Jeff, Mark and families thanks for sharing your parent with me. It was a pleasure to know such fine people!
Know that you are all in my prayers!
Rest in Peace Ed!
Love Kim
